Job Description
Database Administrator
Position SummaryBase-2 Solutions is seeking a Database Administrator to support a mission focused on designing and implementing a data-centric architecture leveraging cloud computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cross-domain transfer systems. The role supports a platform centralizing and standardizing Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) across the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community enterprise, integrating software to sustain and enhance data exploitation and analytics capabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers to develop solutions for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) heterogeneous datasets.
- Administer, maintain, upgrade, and optimize databases to address technical debt.
- Design, maintain, and improve database schemas and data models.
- Participate in engineering design sessions to understand dependencies and interactions with POSTMAN data stores.
- Document database design, implementation, and interactions with other systems.
- Define formats and structure for data exports and imports.
- Define APIs to share data, including endpoints, authentication, authorization, segmentation, structure, and format.
- Manage multiple database instances and interactions to ensure data consistency across the POSTMAN platform.
- Support CI/CD automation, code promotion, and deployment operations.
- Participate in daily scrums and program increment planning sessions.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of relevant experience or Master's Degree with 6 years of relevant experience or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree.
- Ability to obtain Privileged User Account (PUA); must have Security+ and cloud certifications to qualify for access.
- 3+ years administering databases including SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle.
- 3+ years of database scripting using interface tools including command line interfaces.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in designing database schema, data models (Relational, Entity-Relationship, Object-based, etc.), and performance tuning.
- Experience administering databases both on-premises and on cloud platforms.
- Experience monitoring database health and developing solutions to mitigate risks of performance and Service-level Agreements (SLAs).
- Experience working with a highly technical team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Experience segregating data access through record locking or other solutions.
- Experience documenting and implementing security controls; providing POAMs for vulnerabilities and security findings.
- Experience managing multiple database instances across environments.
- Experience managing multiple data connections and interfaces.
- Certified AWS Cloud Practitioner. Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with data integration with Postgres SQL and Elasticsearch.
- Familiarity with PSQL CLI and open-source Postgres GUI.
- Familiarity with AWS S3.
- Familiarity with Appian and SAIL.
- Certifications in RDBMS and/or NoSQL Databases.
- Experience with Agile software development (Scrum, SAFe).
- Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps and CI/CD implementation.
- Experience with Elasticsearch Kibana in developing visualizations/dashboards and conducting analyses.
- Experience with other database systems (Relational / Graph / NoSQL) and data models.
- Experience with Python, JSON, or Java.
- Experience with Intelligence Community data products.
- AWS Cloud Associate Certifications in at least one of the following: Developer; Data Engineer, CloudOps Engineer, Solutions Architect. Required Education and Experience Equivalency
- Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of experience.
