Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our Software Development team. This role is responsible for the administration, performance, security, and reliability of our IBM i (AS/400) Db2 database environment. The successful candidate will work closely with software developers to design, optimize, and maintain databases that support our enterprise applications while ensuring data integrity, performance, and long-term scalability. Key Responsibilities Administer, maintain, and optimize Db2 for i databases within an IBM i environment. Monitor database performance and identify opportunities for optimization. Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies. Manage database security, user access, and data integrity. Review database designs, table structures, indexes, and SQL code to ensure best practices and performance standards are met. Collaborate with developers throughout the software development lifecycle to provide guidance on database design, SQL optimization, and application performance. Support database migrations between development, testing, and production environments. Troubleshoot database issues, locking conflicts, and performance bottlenecks. Qualifications 3+ years of experience administering relational databases in an IBM i (AS/400) environment. Strong knowledge of IBM i operating system and Db2 for i. Experience writing and optimizing SQL. Understanding of database design principles, indexing, and performance tuning. Experience with backup, recovery, and high availability solutions. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with database analysis and management tools such as X-Analysis or similar. Knowledge of DDL, DDS, stored procedures, triggers, and database security best practices. Experience supporting enterprise business applications.
