Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Center Technician to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of telecommunications and networking equipment within our data center environment. Your expertise will ensure the seamless operation of critical systems, supporting our commitment to reliable connectivity and communication services. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and develop your skills in a fast-paced, collaborative setting. Duties Install, configure, and maintain structured cabling systems including Ethernet, Cat5, Cat6, fiber optic systems, and low-voltage electrical wiring to support data center operations. Perform fiber splicing and fiber optic systems installation to ensure optimal data transmission quality. Troubleshoot and repair telecommunications equipment such as Cisco routers, Juniper devices, Avaya systems, VoIP solutions, and other network hardware using diagnostic tools. Conduct network installation tasks including cable termination, network wiring, and testing with telecommunications testing equipment like ohmmeters and RF testers. Support equipment setup and maintenance for LAN (Local Area Network), telephony systems, radio frequency (RF) testing, and communication system installation. Assist with power tools usage for equipment repair and structured cabling projects while adhering to safety standards for AC/DC electrical systems. Collaborate with team members on schematics interpretation for accurate system installation and troubleshooting. Provide excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries related to network wiring or telecommunication issues promptly and professionally. Experience Proven experience working as a Data Center Technician or in a similar field service role involving telecommunications or network infrastructure. Hands-on knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet, LAN setup, network cabling, and telecommunication systems. Familiarity with Cisco routers, Juniper networking devices, Avaya telephony systems, VoIP solutions, and structured cabling standards such as Cat5/Cat6. Experience using diagnostic tools like ohmmeters and RF testers for troubleshooting fiber optic or radio frequency systems. Ability to perform fiber splicing, cable termination, and telecommunications testing with precision. Strong understanding of low-voltage electrical wiring, power tools operation for equipment installation or repair tasks. Knowledge of schematics interpretation for complex communication system installations. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on equipment troubleshooting and repair in high-pressure environments.
