3008184003-2 Apply for this job now Job Description Cox Automotive seeks a Principal Database Administrator to lead the design, optimization, and reliability of large-scale database platforms supporting our global automotive technology solutions. You will architect resilient database infrastructures, drive performance tuning, manage capacity, and ensure high availability across on-prem and cloud environments. Partner with engineering, product, and data teams to implement best practices for security, backup/recovery, and automation. Mentor DBAs, influence data platform strategy, and evaluate emerging database technologies to support Cox Automotive's innovative, data-driven products and services. Responsibilities Architect and maintain scalable, secure database infrastructures across on-prem and cloud environments Lead performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning for mission-critical systems Implement and manage backup, restore, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies Establish and enforce database security, compliance, and data governance best practices Collaborate with engineering and product teams on schema design and data modeling Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools Monitor database health, troubleshoot complex issues, and resolve production incidents Evaluate, recommend, and implement new database and data platform technologies Create technical standards, documentation, and runbooks for database operations Mentor and coach DBAs, influencing long-term data platform strategy Required Skills Database architecture and administration SQL performance tuning and query optimization Relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, My SQL) Cloud databases (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure
