Job Description

Job Description Insight Global is looking for a Database Administrator (DBA) who is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, performance, and availability of SQL Server databases supporting the Utah Population Database (UPDB) and Utah Health AI Vault (UHAIV) initiatives. This role ensures reliable database operations across development, testing, and production environments while supporting modernization efforts related to data versioning, metadata management, automation, and CI/CD implementation.

The DBA will collaborate closely with Data Architects, Data Engineers, ETL Engineers, and Security teams to optimize database performance, support data delivery objectives, and maintain compliance with organizational standards and security requirements. This role will be located in Salt Lake City but will be fully remote. The candidate will need to be within driving distance of the campus to be able to come onsite for the occasional meeting. This will be a 12-month contract with extensions up to 2 years. Skills and Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or related field
  • 2-4 years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise production environments
  • Experience with database backup, recovery, replication, and high availability solutions
  • Strong SQL development and query optimization skills
  • Experience developing administrative scripts using PowerShell
  • Experience supporting database deployments and change management processes
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience implementing database CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience supporting healthcare or research data environments
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Git, or similar source control platforms
  • Experience with metadata management and data governance initiatives
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, NIST, and regulatory compliance requirements.
