Job Description

Genesis10 is currently seeking a MongoDB Database Administrator - Hybrid for a 12+ month contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC and Plano, TX.

We are seeking an experienced MongoDB DBA with strong expertise in designing and managing highly scalable, distributed database systems. The ideal candidate will have proven ability to implement sharding, replication, and performance tuning strategies, along with advanced troubleshooting and automation using Python and shell scripting. This role involves optimizing database performance, ensuring high availability, and supporting mission-critical applications in an enterprise environment.

Responsibilities:

Administer and maintain MongoDB production environments, ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability

Design and implement MongoDB sharded clusters and replica sets, enabling horizontal scalability and fault tolerance

Define efficient data models and schema designs aligned with application requirements and performance goals

Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis

Monitor system performance and conduct capacity planning to support growing workloads

Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, replication errors, and production incidents, ensuring minimal downtime

Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes to ensure data integrity and business continuity

Implement and manage MongoDB security controls, including authentication, authorization, and encryption

Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and Shell scripting to streamline database maintenance, backups, and monitoring

Perform database upgrades, migrations, and cluster expansions with minimal impact on production systems

Collaborate with application and DevOps teams to support database-related requirements, deployments, and troubleshooting

Maintain documentation, SOPs, and best practices for database operations and governance

Requirements:
  • Strong experience with MongoDB administration
  • Proficiency in sharding, replication, clustering, and data modeling
  • Expertise in query optimization, indexing, capacity planning, and performance tuning
  • Automation skills using Python and Shell Scripting (Bash)
  • Experience working in a Linux/Unix platform
  • Knowledge of backup/recovery, security, and high availability architecture
  • Must be able to work a hybrid schedule with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite
Desired skills:

Knowledge of MySQL database administration as aplementary skill

Pay range: $63.68 - $71.68 per hour
