Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a reliable and technically skilled Data Center Technician to support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and monitoring of our data center infrastructure. The technician will be responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining servers, networking equipment, cabling, and related data center systems while following established safety, security, and operational procedures. Key Responsibilities Install, rack, stack, cable, label, and decommission servers and network equipment. Perform hardware installation, replacement, upgrades, and preventative maintenance. Troubleshoot server, storage, network, power, and connectivity issues. Monitor data center equipment and respond to alerts, incidents, and service requests. Perform server reboots, equipment swaps, component replacements, and other hands-on maintenance activities. Install and maintain copper and fiber-optic cabling. Maintain accurate equipment inventories, rack diagrams, cable records, and documentation. Follow change-management, incident-management, and data center operating procedures. Assist with equipment moves, adds, changes, and decommissions. Work with network, systems, security, facilities, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe data center environment. Follow all physical security, access-control, safety, and compliance requirements. Participate in scheduled maintenance activities and, when required, after-hours or on-call support. Escalate complex hardware, networking, or infrastructure issues to the appropriate engineering teams. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification is a plus. 1-3 years of experience in data center operations, IT infrastructure, desktop/server support, or a related technical environment. Basic understanding of servers, networking, storage, and computer hardware. Experience with rack-mounted equipment and structured cabling. Ability to troubleshoot hardware and connectivity problems. Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux operating systems. Ability to use ticketing systems and maintain accurate technical documentation. Strong attention to detail and commitment to following established procedures. Ability to safely lift and move equipment and work in a data center environment. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with enterprise server platforms, storage systems, or networking equipment. Familiarity with fiber-optic and copper cabling standards. Experience with virtualization technologies. Knowledge of data center infrastructure and environmental monitoring systems. Familiarity with ITIL, change management, or incident management practices. Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, or Cisco CCNA. Experience working with DCIM, monitoring, asset-management, or ticketing platforms. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift, carry, and install computer and networking equipment. Ability to work in areas with elevated equipment noise and varying temperatures. Ability to safely use ladders and other equipment as required. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, or scheduled maintenance windows when necessary.
