Fiber Optic Data Center Technician (Entry-Level)
Location:

Double Time (2x Pay Rate) Position Overview We are seeking motivated Fiber Optic Data Center Technicians to support large-scale data center infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for individuals with hands-on experience working in MDF/IDF environments , fiber optic patch panels, and network connectivity. Candidates must be able to work independently, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and ensure all cabling is accurately documented and labeled. This is a fast-paced environment where technicians are expected to hit the ground running and contribute immediately to critical fiber deployments and network connectivity initiatives. Key Responsibilities Install, terminate, and manage fiber optic cabling within MDF and IDF closets. Terminate and test fiber using LC connectors . Troubleshoot connectivity issues utilizing tools such as OTDR, VFL, Fluke testers , and other fiber testing equipment. Verify proper fiber connectivity and ensure network links are operational. Label and document all fiber runs accurately within asset management and infrastructure databases. Clean, inspect, and polish fiber connections to ensure optimal performance. Support network infrastructure installations involving multiple interconnected devices and appliances. Follow data center standards, safety procedures, and quality guidelines. Required Skills & Experience Experience working with fiber optic patch panels . Strong understanding of network connectivity and troubleshooting .
Knowledge of:
Fiber Optics Fiber Terminations LC Connectors Patch Panels Structured Cabling Cat5e/Cat6 Cabling Fiber Testing Equipment Cable Labeling & Documentation Preferred Qualifications Experience using Meta data center tools: MyPatch SURF Elevation Previous data center deployment or operations experience. Experience with fiber cleaning, polishing, and certification testing. Additional Information Candidates who have worked at Meta within the last six months are not eligible for this assignment. Active contractors currently assigned on-site cannot be recruited away from existing engagements. Per diem of $161 per day is provided for food and lodging. Overtime hours are compensated at 2x the regular pay rate . Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate has hands-on fiber optic experience, understands data center connectivity, and can confidently install, test, troubleshoot, and document fiber infrastructure with minimal supervision. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience supporting one of the world's largest data center environments while working alongside experienced infrastructure professionals. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Temple, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $42.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
