Lead Technician, Data Center Solutions Location :
Sterling, VA and Herndon, VA Schedule :
Monday-Friday, 7AM-4PM (40 hours/week)
Contract :
10/5/2026 - 12/10/2026 (extension based on performance)
Pay :
$28-29/Hour (approximately $9,408-$9,744 earning potential for initial contract)
JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Data Center Solutions Lead Technician to support a high-impact enhancement project at our Fortune 10 hyperscale cloud services client's data centers in Northern Virginia. This is a hands-on infrastructure installation and leadership role focused on hot aisle containment (HAC) installation, measurements, assembly, and data center infrastructure upgrades. As the on-site team leader, you will work alongside technicians while owning the daily execution of field operations and serving as the primary point of accountability for team performance, quality assurance, and client-facing communication. This role offers the opportunity to gain highly marketable experience leading large-scale infrastructure upgrades within world-class data centers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant hands-on experience in data center infrastructure, construction, or a related technical trade, including experience leading others. High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications a plus. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings; proficient with hand and power tools for fabrication, assembly, and installation with precise measurements. Demonstrated ability to lead a field team, including task delegation, performance accountability, and conflict resolution. Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear direction, progress updates, and interface directly with client contacts. Able to lift 30 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in elevated temperatures ranging from 90-120°F; comfortable working in confined spaces, on ladders, and at elevated heights. Willingness to travel locally between client sites as required and adapt to changing project priorities and schedules.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Own on-site execution and serve as the primary point of accountability for team performance, quality, and schedule adherence. Manage daily team operations, including task assignments, briefings, progress tracking, and real-time problem-solving. Execute and oversee hands-on installation work from technical drawings, ensuring projects are completed on time and to specification. Interface directly with the client regarding daily scope, escalations, and status updates. Maintain accurate field documentation including measurements, task logs, and equipment configurations; support site enhancements and layout adjustments as directed. Enforce safe tool usage and maintain a clean, organized work environment. Hold yourself and teammates accountable to established quality and safety standards.
EXPECTATIONS
Strict adherence to all client data center security protocols and PPE requirements. PPE will be provided, though personal composite toe footwear is encouraged. Flexibility is required for client-mandated restricted or blocked workdays due to holidays or operational events. These will be communicated with as much notice as possible and are unpaid. As the on-site team leader, model professionalism, reliability, and accountability for the entire team at all times.
Pay:
