Position Description:
CGI Federal is seeking a Senior Data Migration IT Subject Matter Expert to lead the end‑to‑end migration of highly sensitive, mission‑critical datasets as part of a national‑priority modernization initiative. This senior expert will architect, oversee, and validate all technical aspects of migrating large‑scale, multi‑format data—includingELSUR/FISA
holdings—from multiple legacy environments into a unified, secure, modern data platform. This role plays a central part in ensuring accuracy, integrity, accessibility, and secure handling of historical mission data. The Senior IT SME will lead strategies that modernize legacy systems, preserve high‑value information, and guarantee seamless interoperability within new cloud‑enabled environments supporting long‑term mission success.Your future duties and responsibilities:
- Lead the full lifecycle migration of sensitive mission data—including
ELSUR/FISA
—from multiple legacy systems and storage solutions into a consolidated, modern data platform.- Ensure the successful migration of all data, metadata, and user‑applied markings, preserving historical integrity and operational relevance.
- Oversee the accurate, secure, and seamless transfer of structured, unstructured, audio, text, and multi‑format datasets into new cloud‑aligned environments.
- Validate accessibility, searchability, and correct rendering of migrated data in the new system's UI, APIs, and analytic components.
- Architect and refine ETL pipelines, data ingestion workflows, transformation logic, and metadata handling standards.
- Engineer and evaluate database systems that support high‑volume mission data, complex metadata structures, lineage tracking, and compliance requirements.
- Lead risk identification, mitigation, and quality assurance related to data integrity, security, and migration performance.
- Collaborate with system owners, mission stakeholders, and cross‑functional engineering teams to ensure operational readiness and mission alignment.
- Provide technical oversight, documentation, and validation required for Transition‑In, Technical Approach, RTM, and CVM deliverables.
- Demonstrate, through work products and results, expertise developed from successful execution of large‑scale, enterprise migration projects Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
- Active Top Secret clearance.
- Due to the nature of this government contract, US Citizenship is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- 9+ years of professional experience in data migration, data engineering, and enterprise database engineering.
- Demonstrated experience executing large‑scale, multi‑system data migration projects, ideally involving complex metadata, markings, and sensitive data controls.
- Expertise designing and operating ETL pipelines, ingestion frameworks, transformation logic, and multi‑tier data architectures.
- Deep knowledge of data lineage, metadata propagation, marking preservation, and secure data‑handling workflows.
Desired:
- Experience migrating sensitive, multi‑format datasets in high‑security operational environments.
- Familiarity with cloud‑based analytics platforms and managed database services.
- Background in modernizing or refactoring legacy mission systems.
