The Data Center Commissioning Manager is responsible for leading, planning, and executing end‑to‑end commissioning activities for mission‑critical data centers. This role ensures all mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), controls, and life‑safety systems are installed, tested, and operating according to design intent, safety standards, and performance requirements. The position involves collaboration with construction teams, design engineers, vendors, and operations teams to deliver a fully validated facility ready for turnover.
Key Responsibilities:
Commissioning Leadership Lead the full commissioning multi-level verification process for a new data Develop and manage commissioning plans, scripts, and Ensure all commissioning activities adhere to industry best practices such as ASHRAE, NFPA, IEEE, and Uptime Institute standards. Project Management Coordinate daily with construction, engineering, vendors, and internal operations to drive commissioning Manage commissioning tasks, track progress, and mitigate risks that could impact critical Provide regular reporting to project stakeholders, including test results, deficiencies, and completion Technical Oversight Oversee functional testing of MEP and critical systems, including: Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems Generators and fuel systems Switchgear and electrical distribution HVAC and cooling infrastructure (CRAC/CRAH, chillers, pumps, cooling towers) Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) Fire detection and suppression systems Verify system integration, redundancy, failover sequences, alarms, and control Quality Assurance & Documentation Ensure all commissioning documentation—factory witness tests, installation verifications, SAT/FAT reports, and integrated systems tests (IST)—meets project standards. Identify, track, and close out punch‑list items and Deliver final commissioning reports and turnover documentation Safety & Compliance Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols during testing and Ensure equipment and systems comply with applicable codes, manufacturer requirements, and end-user Support environmental, health, and safety (EHS) plans for all commissioning
Qualifications:
Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent 7+ years of commissioning experience in mission‑critical or industrial Proven track record leading commissioning on large data center, hyperscale or mission-critical Technical Skills Expertise with MEP systems, controls, SCADA/BMS/EPMS, and critical facility Strong understanding of reliability concepts such as N, N+1, 2N, concurrently maintainable, and fault‑tolerant design. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (one‑lines, P&IDs, control schematics). Soft Skills Excellent communication and leadership Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills during high‑pressure Ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders in a dynamic construction Preferred Certifications Certified Commissioning Professional (CxA / BCxP / CCP / CPMP) Data center-related certifications (Uptime, BICSI, DCPro,) Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus
