What You'll Do:

Design, develop, and optimize scalable database solutions tailored to evolving business needs Install, configure, and upgrade database systems, ensuring seamless performance and security Monitor and fine-tune database performance, queries, indexes, and schemas for reliability and speed Implement and uphold database security protocols to protect sensitive information Collaborate closely with application developers to refine schema design and SQL optimization Troubleshoot and resolve incidents promptly across various environments Maintain clear documentation of architecture, configurations, and operational procedures Perform capacity planning and recommend infrastructure enhancements Manage cloud-based database infrastructure on AWS (RDS, Aurora, Redshift) Stay current with emerging database technologies and best practices to continually improve our data landscape

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Database Engineer or DBA with strong AWS and IaC expertise Deep knowledge of DBMSs such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or Redshift Proficiency in SQL query optimization and data modeling principles Hands-on experience with performance tuning, backup/restoration, and disaster recovery Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Nice-to-Have Skills:

Understanding of AWS networking fundamentals Experience with Terraform Cloud and automation workflows Scripting proficiency in Python or Shell Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for databases using Bamboo, Flyway, or similar tools

Preferred Education & Experience:

Relevant Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields Several years of professional experience working with cloud-based database systems and infrastructure
