Job Summary This key leadership role will support UK's transformation by advancing data analytics and business intelligence capabilities and helping the organization leverage data as a strategic asset. This position provides both people leadership and hands-on technical direction for a growing team that supports Epic EMR data, Azure-based analytics platforms, and enterprise reporting. The Manager sets direction, establishes standards, and ensures reliable delivery while fostering a collaborative, communicative, and high-performing team culture. The Data Architecture Manager leads the data architecture function of the Enterprise Data Warehouse within UK ITS, ensuring it remains adaptable to evolving industry standards and organizational needs. This position serves as a subject matter expert in data warehousing, data engineering, staging and integration—including data mapping, extraction, transformation—along with data modeling, database design, and the performance and capabilities of enterprise analytics platforms. As part of the analytics and data warehousing leadership structure, this role guides the Data Architecture team, contributes to strategic decisionmaking, and helps drive the maturation of UK's enterprise data environment. This role manages supervisors and/or individual contributors and provides operational and technical leadership for cloud-based data platforms, data integration, and analytics environments. The position applies advanced knowledge of data engineering, analytics platforms, and healthcare data processes to manage moderately complex to complex work activities. The Manager sets operational direction for staff, ensures alignment with departmental policies and objectives, and contributes to continuous improvement of data platforms supporting clinical, operational, and administrative decision making. The position requires staying current with rapidly changing industry requirements and recommending advancements that align with organizational goals.

Skills / Knowledge
/ Abilities Qualified candidates must have demonstrated experience in database design, database programming, database administration and data integration/ETL (extract, transform, load) or modern cloud-native data engineering. This individual must have knowledge of project management methodologies and practices as well as strong leadership and financial management skills. The ideal candidate will have solid experience of data warehouses , data engineering practices, relational database design - the management and optimization of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data types - data modeling, analytics and reporting tools such as SSRS, Power BI, Tableau and Cognos and data mapping and data integration tools such as Azure Data Factory, SSIS and Databricks. The ideal candidate must have experience (or ability to quickly become proficient) with enterprise cloud data platforms (such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure). Knowledgeable in Microsoft Azure services preferred. Must be a customer-focused, determined leader who possesses strong facilitation, presentation, conflict management, problem solving and communications skills.Essential Functions:
Management & Supervision Manages supervisors and/or individual contributors within the data engineering and analytics platform function. Directs daily work activities, assigns resources, and establishes priorities to meet operational goals and service expectations. Conducts performance reviews and participates in employment actions including hiring, corrective action, and termination. Provides coaching, mentoring, and professional development to staff to build technical and operational capabilities. Maintains frequent communication with team members to ensure clarity of expectations, progress, and priorities. Technical & Operational Leadership Oversees the design, development, and operation of enterprise data platforms supporting analytics, reporting, and AI-enabled solutions. Manages data ingestion, transformation, integration, and delivery processes across cloud-based platforms. Applies advanced technical knowledge of data engineering, data architecture, and analytics platforms to resolve complex operational and system issues. Ensures adherence to established standards for data quality, reliability, security, monitoring, and documentation. Interprets and executes organizational policies, procedures, and governance requirements related to data platforms and operations. Decision Making & Impact Makes independent decisions related to resource allocation, work approaches, and tactical operations within defined policies and procedures. Regularly makes recommendations on matters of significance affecting data platforms, processes, and service delivery across a facility. Exercises independent judgment to address moderately complex to complex issues requiring analysis of data, processes, and system performance. Results and performance have moderate impact on operational costs, service levels, and departmental objectives. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Collaborates with clinical, IT, analytics, and business stakeholders to align data platform capabilities with organizational needs. Identifies trends, risks, and opportunities through performance metrics and operational monitoring. Leads or contributes to initiatives that improve efficiency, reliability, and effectiveness of data platforms and services. Partners with departmental leadership to provide input on policies, procedures, and strategies related to data engineering and analytics operations. Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? Yes Preferred Education/Experience BS in Science, Technology, Engineering, Business, or related fields preferred.
