Information Specialist Destination Salem - 5.0 Salem, MA Job Details Temporary | Part-time $18 - $19 an hour 10 hours ago Qualifications Retail sales transactions Computer operation Merchandising High school diploma or GED Desktop applications Computer skills Full Job Description Position Summary The Information Specialist is responsible for welcoming and assisting visitors at the Destination Salem Information Center. This role includes providing recommendations on local attractions, events, and services, managing retail sales and inventory, and supporting the center's day-to-day operations. The position requires strong communication skills, a friendly and professional demeanor, and a passion for the Salem community. This is a part-time, seasonal position based in Salem, MA. We are open 7 days a week 9am-5pm (with extended hours in October).
Available Shifts:
Weekdays between Wednesday and Friday and weekend availability is required. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Visitor Services Greet and assist visitors in a friendly and helpful manner Share information about Salem's attractions, events, tours, and businesses Answer inquiries by phone and in person Retail & Inventory Operate the POS system and handle cash/credit card transactions Maintain and stock retail displays and merchandise inventory Prepare and send visitor guide packets Operations Keep brochures and pamphlets organized and stocked Assist with daily cleaning and general upkeep of the center Work collaboratively with the team to ensure a smooth visitor experience Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications & Competencies Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Fluency in English (Spanish or additional languages a plus) Strong interpersonal and communication skills Comfort working with the public in a busy environment Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays Basic computer proficiency Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with Salem and the North Shore region Retail sales or customer service experience Work Environment & Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Able to stand for extended periods and move around the center Must be able to operate in a fast-paced visitor environment
