This is a 12-month contract with a potential for extension.
Pay:
$77.00 - $87.00/hr ; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.
Description:
The Digital Solutions Architect will provide strategic and technical leadership for the company's enterprise analytics ecosystem, supporting a segment of the client data portfolio through the migration of a very large on-premises SQL Server-based data warehouse to AWS. This role is responsible for defining and governing the organization's reference data architecture, rooted in data fabric and data mesh principles, enabling scalable, performant, and governed analytics across multiple business domains. The architect will establish architectural standards, patterns, and best practices for cloud analytics while working closely with data engineering teams to ensure high-quality implementation. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience designing AWS-native analytical platforms using Amazon Redshift, PostgreSQL, Amazon S3, and Apache Iceberg, paired with strong knowledge of modern BI tools including Microsoft Power BI and AWS QuickSight.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the enterprise data architectural strategy for data warehousing and analytics platforms on AWS, aligning to business priorities across ECOM, EAM, and NGBU domains. Define and steward the North Star architecture for analytics, based on data fabric and data mesh operating models, including domain data products, shared services, and federated governance. Architect the migration of a large, complex SQL Server data warehouse to AWS, guiding modernization of domain aligned data models, storage formats, and analytical patterns. Establish and govern architectural standards for: Amazon Redshift, PostgreSQL, and S3-based analytics Apache Iceberg table design and lifecycle management Analytical data modeling and layer separation Apply and evangelize AWS best practices for performance optimization, intelligent scaling, workload isolation, and cost-aware design. Partner closely with data engineering teams, maintaining a strong understanding of ETL/ELT data flows, pipeline patterns, and orchestration approaches, while remaining hands-oN-keys. Provide architectural oversight for analytics consumption layers leveraging Power BI and AWS QuickSight, ensuring alignment with upstream data design. Lead architecture reviews, solution design sessions, and technical decision forums with engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders. Serve as a senior technical advisor, influencing roadmaps, investment decisions, and long-term platform evolution.
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in data warehousing, analytics architecture, or large-scale data platform design. Proven experience architecting AWS-based analytics platforms, including: Amazon Redshift PostgreSQL Amazon S3 Apache Iceberg or similar open table formats Demonstrated success leading migrations from On-Premise SQL Server data warehouses to cloud-native architectures. Strong understanding of data fabric and data mesh concepts, including domain ownership, data products, and federated data governance. Deep familiarity with AWS performance optimization patterns for analytical workloads. Solid conceptual understanding of modern ETL/ELT pipelines, data ingestion patterns, and transformation strategies. Experience supporting enterprise BI and analytics platforms, including Microsoft Power BI and AWS QuickSight. Ability to lead through influence, set architectural direction, and translate strategy into enforceable standards. Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and nontechnical stakeholders. Preferred /
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
Experience with AWS analytics and data services such as Glue, Athena, Lake Formation, Lambda, Step Functions, and CloudWatch. Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, lineage, and observability platforms. Experience operating in large, regulated, or highly federated enterprise environments. Exposure to CI/CD, infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and platform automation. AWS certifications (Solutions Architect - Professional, Data Analytics - Specialty). Experience designing semantic layers or enterprise analytics frameworks for self service BI. What Success Looks Like in

Successful architectural leadership of the SQL Server to AWS migration, with improved scalability, performance, and cost eNiciency. Consistent, repeatable architectural standards applied across Redshift, PostgreSQL, and Iceberg-based analytics solutions. Strong alignment between data architecture, data engineering execution, and analytics consumption (Power BI and QuickSight). High confidence from engineering teams and business stakeholders in architectural decisions and platform direction. Measurable improvements in analytics performance, reliability, and time-to-insight across ECOM, EAM, and NGBU portfolios.
