Location Erie, Pa Position Summary Critical Thinking/Problem Solving:
Identify challenges faced by the STEM Center, analyzing the root causes, and developing strategies to improve the effectiveness of our services or related initiatives.
Oral/Written Communication:
Seek input on improvements, and discuss ways to support students' academic success. Offer tutors constructive feedback on performance, and sharing relevant information through email updates or online platforms.
Teamwork/Collaboration:
The student manager can promote teamwork and collaboration by fostering a supportive environment among tutors, encouraging them to share ideas and resources, and facilitating regular meetings. Regularly collaborates with STEM Center management and other student managers to advance goals.
Digital Technology:
Requires mastery of scheduling, record keeping, MS Teams, and other software to ensure successful STEM Center operation. Leadership (Adaptive Leadership): As an adaptive leader, the student manager can demonstrate flexibility and resilience, promote critical thinking, and empower tutors to take ownership of their roles.
Professionalism/Work Ethic:
The student manager can display professionalism and a strong work ethic by being organized, punctual, and responsible. They should also adhere to ethical guidelines, maintain confidentiality, and act as a role model for tutors in terms of conduct and attitude.
Career Management:
Gain experience developing and implementing strategic plans, managing resources, leading others, and resolving conflict.
Global/Intercultural Fluency:
Student managers can develop global and intercultural fluency by working with a diverse team of tutors and supporting a diverse student body, learning about different cultures, and implementing inclusive practices within the STEM Center.
