Job Description
Working/Functional Title Reporting Services Manager Position Summary The Reporting Services and Data Science teams are responsible for enterprise reporting and advanced analytics platforms that serve the entire University. Reporting to the Associate Director for Development Services, this position will supervise a combination of employees and contractors, including 2 Tableau Developers, 3 Data Scientists, 6 Cognos Developers, and a PowerBI Platform Administrator. This position is responsible for leading directing and coaching the Reporting Services and Data Science team while supporting the broader Enterprise Services Department; managing production operations, change management, complex projects, and assigning team resources to the same. As a member of the Enterprise Services Leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, policy development, budgeting, and technology direction and managing across the IT organization. This position will be primarily hybrid with the expectation to come onsite a minimum of 2 days per week. offers technology resources that support MSU's mission of providing education, conducting research, and advancing engagement. Minimum Requirements Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program, with coursework in an information technology field related to the area of employment; and more than eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed, including experience overseeing large, complex or critical information technology projects; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Desired Qualifications Broad BI/analytics lifecycle knowledge with leadership in IT teams. Background in higher ed data and university systems. Skilled at managing production BI environments and managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines. Familiar with data warehousing, data stewardship, and tools such as Cognos, Tableau, SPSS, SAP, IBM MDM, Kuali Finance, and Power BI. Proven experience developing enterprise BI solutions, especially using IBM Cognos. Skilled in descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics, Strong leadership skills.
