Job Description
Description Transform the backbone of digital infrastructure by leading a dynamic team that builds and maintains the critical networks powering global technology. In this role, you'll drive operational excellence, optimize data center deployment strategies, and create seamless connectivity solutions that support Amazon's massive technological ecosystem. The Infrastructure Delivery Manager will manage the implementation and delivery of inbound capacity and equipment. This manager will be responsible for a growing team and will oversee their development and growth. The successful candidate will have experience managing and mentoring people, tracking budgets, providing strategic direction, and proposing technical solutions. This manager will ultimately be responsible for installing and delivering our network equipment and related infrastructures, as well as responsible for driving low voltage structured cabling across the Amazon data center platform. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we're looking for talented people who want to help. You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Effective May 15, 2017, logical access to the AWS GovCloud region will be restricted to Amazon employees who are U.S. Citizens. (GovCloud may NOT be accessed from outside of the United States). Key job responsibilities
- Prioritize and assign tasks to data center technicians and operators, project management, coaching, and creating documentation.
- Manage inbound capacity from receiving through deployment stages
- Manage the installation network and cabling infrastructure in a data center environment
- Guide, train and educate staff on the best practices related to all service owner issues
- Manage tasks and deliverables across small to large-size projects
- Recommend, document, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and to meet required SLAs
- Provide weekly report to the data center manager
- Coordinate team resources to support project and delivery needs, including emergency projects, change management and maintenance window support, and potential off-hours and on-call needs.
- Recruit and train data technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels
- Host weekly staff meetings
- Drive compliance to Amazon performance management requirements This role supports data centers in various operational stages.
Essential Requirements:
- Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed
- Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational
- Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status of assigned facility Candidates must be able to travel (over 50 miles) or commute (less than 50 miles) to active data center sites as required by business needs. Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of data center, network engineering, and/or systems engineering experience
- 4+ years of experience in management/team lead function
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT-related field (e.g. computer science, network engineering, etc.) Preferred Qualifications
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- Experience with fiber optic and copper cabling standards, testing equipment & troubleshooting methodologies
- Experience contributing to the definition and implementation of automation opportunities within an operations environment
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT-related field (e.g. computer science, network engineering, etc.)
- Understanding of networking infrastructure topology
- Certifications in a relevant field (CCENT, Network+, CCNA)
- Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience
- Knowledge of data center
MEP Infrastructure:
Power, Cooling & Facilities Management. Experience in data center Safety and Security measures- ITIL Foundation, PMP, Lean, Six Sigma and/or Risk related certifications. Data Center related certification
CDCP/S/E, CDCMP/TP
- Linux certification and/or administration experience
