Position:
Under immediate supervision, performs work of routine difficulty at the entry level in the utilization of geographic information system (GIS) software and global positioning system (GPS) software and hardware. Performs related work as required. No supervision over others required.
Typical Tasks:
1. Interprets recorded plans (as-builts) to enter graphic and attribute data into the GIS. 2. Creates maps and other GIS-related products. 3. Corrects errors with GIS data. 4. Operates and maintains various types of GIS hardware including plotters and workstations. 5. Troubleshoots and resolves different software and hardware issues.
Education/Experience:
A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Physical Science, Geography, Urban Planning, or a closely related field.
Knowledge and Abilities:
1. Experience with geographic information system software. 2. Ability to think logically and follow detailed instructions. 3. Ability to solve problems in a logical manner. 4. Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. 5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. 6. Ability to learn and use specialized computer system application software. 7. Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
Compensation:
