ITS - GIS INTERN FALL/WINTER
The Peoria County Information Technology Services Department is seeking two paid GIS interns under the direction of the GIS Manager. The GIS interns will assist on a county-wide planimetric project. In addition, GIS interns will assist the team by providing GIS services to Peoria County departments, clients, and the community. GIS duties include, but are not limited to:- Update county-wide planimetric GIS datasets.
- Process GIS data, map, and 911 addressing requests from customers.
- Create and maintain GIS data, map products, and metadata.
- Update GIS application, map, and data products on the Peoria County GIS Website.
- Compile, interpret, and maintain geographic data from a variety of different sources which may include census, planimetric, property tax information, election information, drawings, and aerial photography.
- Ability to interpret legal descriptions, surveys, and other legal documents.
- Perform complex queries, commands, digitizing, address geocoding, and spatial analyses using geoprocessing tools, scripts, and software.
- The positions will be temporary part-time and based on a workweek consisting of 15-20 hours.
- GIS interns will work remotely and must be available to meet during business hours using video conferencing platforms such as Teams.
- Peoria County business hours are Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm.
- The GIS intern positions will conclude on December 31, 2026.
