A GIS Analyst gathers data that can be used in geographic information system (GIS) maps or products. Gathers data from existing maps and reports; gathers information on people, plants, animals, buildings, natural terrain and elevation.
Your Impact at SAM + Assist with interpreting as-built drawings, construction plans, engineering plans, recorded maps, deeds, legal descriptions, imagery and related source documents and incorporates them into GIS using various methods including coordinate geometry ( COGO ), digitizing + Assist in the creation and maintenance of multiple GIS layers including parcels, streets, right-of-way, zoning, and other development layers. + Follow quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) processes, and perform routine data management tasks, such as data validation and correction, queries and editing in GIS to ensure GIS data accuracy, integrity, and completeness + Assist with GIS and data analysis, prepare and execute queries, produce maps, spreadsheets, graphs, and other analytical products. What You Bring to SAM + Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS , Computer Science or similar field + 0-3 years as a GIS Technician + Understanding of computer programming and data analysis skills + Knowledge of modern cartographic standards and principles + Advanced statistical, mathematical, and methodology skills + Ability to work as part of a team + Ability to travel when required Our Perks +
