CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT - GIS.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The purpose of this position is to assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of a Geographic Information System (GIS) and related data. This position prepares maps, charts, and drawings from aerial maps and other survey data; identifies, scales and orients geodetic points, elevations, and other topographic features and cartographic detail. Maintains complex GIS layers using remote sensing, computer-aided design and other cartography sources. Digitizes hardcopy maps, plans, and overlays from existing or new information, documents, drawing, plans, charts, or other data sources. Employee assist higher level GIS Analysts in the production of large digitizing projects. Provides information to the public, contractors, and consultants relative to engineering business and technical matters. Updates existing GIS system graphic, mapping, and database information. This position utilizes automated design software and various drafting instruments in the updating and modification of utility plans, i.e., CAD, plotters, calculators, scales, lettering sets. Performs related duties as required.

) The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof.
