Role description:
- Arcadis is seeking to hire for a position in Asheville, North Carolina, a junior to mid-level part time cultural resources specialist with Geographic Information System (GIS) experience.
- Familiarity with relevant GIS desktop applications for the work is required. Knowledge and experience working within this framework at a federal and North Carolina state level is necessary.
- The successful candidate will need to be located in Asheville, North Carolina close to our federal client. There will be some field visits, including overnight travel to various restoration locations for purposes of completing work. Regular client meetings and other project meetings will occur.
- This position sits within our Mobility Global Business Area.
Role accountabilities:
- The more technical aspects of your role will be serving as a qualified and experienced cultural resources specialist with GIS experience.
- The successful candidate will assist and provide technical guidance to field and other research teams as necessary to obtain data required to produce accurate mapping for cultural resource locations, archaeology test locations, reports, figures, photographs, drawings, and other documents to aid in meeting all project objectives.
- The role requires the hire to complete assigned activities within budget, timeframe, and to a quality standard that ensures overall project integrity while meeting or exceeding client objectives and expectations in compliance with Arcadis requirements and relevant national standards and codes of practice.
Qualifications & Experience:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of science or related field.
- Minimum 4 years of general experience in cultural resources management, with a combination of field- and office-based experience and roles.
- Must have 3 years of experience in archaeological fieldwork as a field technician.
- Must have participated in a field school.
- Demonstrated GIS experience including deploying GPS systems, ArcGIS Field Maps or Survey 123. Experience required in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, Dashboards.
- Working knowledge of cultural resources management, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and North Carolina state guidelines (including standard archaeological survey methods).
- Strong communications skills.
- Experience working with federal and state agencies.
