Job Description
BIM & Reality Capture Specialist /
Technician Position Overview:
SL Chasse Steel is seeking a detail-oriented and forward-thinking BIM & Reality Capture Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between physical job sites and digital modeling environments. You will be responsible for executing on-site 3D laser scanning, processing high-density point clouds, and converting reality capture data into highly accurate Building Information Models (BIM). This position is ideal for recent graduates or technicians with hands-on exposure to architectural modeling, structural workflows, and field surveying technologies.
Key Responsibilities:

Field Reality Capture:
Setup, calibrate, and operate 3D terrestrial laser scanners and optical instruments to capture comprehensive as-built site conditions.
•
Point Cloud Processing:
Register, clean, and index raw spatial data from multi-angle scans into cohesive, coordinate-accurate point clouds.
•
Scan-to-BIM Workflow:
Utilize Autodesk Revit and other BIM software to model architectural, structural, or MEP systems directly from point cloud data.
•
Quality Control:
Cross-verify digital models against physical site notes and imagery to ensure data integrity and exact dimensional tolerances.
•
Collaboration:
Coordinate closely with project managers, engineers, and site superintendents to deliver actionable digital twins and construction documentation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
•
Software Proficiency:
Strong foundational experience with Autodesk Revit and point cloud processing software (e.g., Autodesk Recap, Trimble RealWorks, or Faro Scene).
•
Hardware Exposure:
Practical training or exposure to 3D laser scanners (terrestrial, structured light, or handheld) and modern surveying equipment.
•
Technical Understanding:
Solid grasp of BIM methodologies, coordinate systems, and spatial data alignments.
•
Core Competencies:
High spatial awareness, strong analytical troubleshooting, and excellent communication skills for field-to-office reporting.
Preferred Education & Background:
Degree or certificate in Architectural Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Digital Modeling & Fabrication, or a closely related vocational discipline (e.g., graduates of programs emphasizing practical AEC applications).
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
