Duties Develop and maintain GIS databases using relational database management systems such as SQL, ensuring data integrity and accessibility. Create compelling geospatial visualizations and maps utilizing GIS software like ArcGIS, MapInfo, or similar platforms. Write scripts and develop custom GIS applications using programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, and scripting APIs to automate workflows and enhance functionality. Integrate GPS data collection tools with GIS databases for precise land surveying and field data capture. Design and implement data models for geospatial datasets, supporting analysis and cartographic projects. Collaborate with land surveyors and other stakeholders to gather accurate spatial data through fieldwork involving GPS devices and surveying techniques. Manage large datasets effectively through data collection, analysis, visualization, and sharing via platforms like SharePoint or cloud-based services. Develop APIs for seamless data exchange between GIS applications and external systems or databases. Conduct GIS analysis to support planning, environmental assessments, infrastructure projects, or mapping needs. Lead efforts in creating user-friendly mapping tools that visualize complex geospatial information clearly for diverse audiences. Experience Proven experience in developing GIS databases with a strong understanding of data management principles. Hands-on expertise with GIS software such as ArcGIS, including mapping using GIS tools and cartography best practices. Proficiency in programming languages like Python, JavaScript, and scripting for GIS automation and application development. Solid knowledge of relational databases (SQL) and database management experience to handle large geospatial datasets efficiently. Experience working with land surveying processes, GPS technology, and integrating survey data into GIS systems. Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret geospatial data for meaningful insights through GIS analysis techniques. Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) tools like AutoCAD for drafting and mapping purposes. Excellent analysis skills complemented by attention to detail in data collection, visualization, and reporting tasks.
