Steel Shire Design is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented GIS Technician to join our growing team. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their GIS career to gain hands-on experience in the pipeline and energy industry while working alongside experienced analysts and developers. About the Role As a GIS Technician, you'll play a key role in supporting our team's mapping and data management workflows. You'll work in ArcGIS Pro to maintain spatial data, support pipeline and right-of-way mapping projects, and help manage landowner documents, permits, and agreements. You'll report to our GIS Manager and collaborate with a tight-knit team of GIS professionals. What You'll Do Enter, edit, and maintain geospatial data in ArcGIS Pro Support pipeline and right-of-way mapping projects from start to finish Help organize and manage landowner documents, permits, and agreements Run spatial queries and produce maps for clients and internal teams Maintain geodatabases and perform quality assurance checks Contribute to process documentation and workflow improvements
What We're Looking For Required:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, or related field — or equivalent hands-on experience Foundational understanding of GIS concepts and spatial data Working knowledge of ArcGIS Pro Strong attention to detail — accuracy matters in our work Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote environment Solid communication skills (written and verbal) Nice to
Have:
SQL experience for querying and managing databases Python scripting skills for GIS automation Exposure to pipeline, utility, or energy industry projects Experience with geodatabase management Why Steel Shire Design? Fully Remote
