This full-time, exempt position combines hands-on GIS work, project leadership, database management, and supervision of the GIS team. The GIS Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of District GIS and database information, coordinating GIS/GPS operations, developing maps and applications, supporting District departments, and ensuring assigned projects are completed effectively and on schedule. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise the GIS team, including work assignments, training, performance, scheduling, and project priorities Oversee District GIS and database operations and maintain the accuracy, validity, and integrity of GIS information Plan and manage GIS projects, resources, timelines, budgets, equipment, software, and vendor needs Design, develop, and maintain GIS map layers, applications, workflows, dashboards, reports, and electronic atlas plats Review and update maps using as-built drawings, field verification, GPS data, surveys, plats, property descriptions, and other agency data Coordinate GIS/GPS activities with District staff, engineers, inspectors, contractors, utilities, and other agencies Train District employees and GIS staff in GIS software, applications, workflows, and GPS equipment Respond to after-hours calls and department emergencies as necessary and help ensure team safety and compliance with District safety standards Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in database operations, computer science, geography, or a related field Eight (8) years of work experience performing GIS, database, mapping, or related duties Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered Special Qualification Associate ArcGIS certification to visualize, manage, and analyze geospatial data through an approved ESRI training center Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of GIS, database management, cartography, GPS/surveying practices, and quality assurance/control methods Proficiency with ESRI/ArcGIS software and related mapping, database, and reporting tools Ability to lead employees, coordinate projects, establish priorities, and work effectively across departments Ability to analyze and solve data, mapping, system, and technical problems Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information clearly Ability to work effectively with supervisors, directors, employees, engineers, contractors, vendors, and the public Why Join Us?
