Job Description
Fully Funded PhD in Mountain Hydrology via AGU University of Wyoming Laramie, WY, USA 🇺🇸 The Mountain Hydrology Research group at the University of Wyoming is hiring 1 Ph.D. student to start in Fall of 2027 for an NSF funded project. The successful applicant will be a research assistant (RA) on the topic of melt dynamics in mountain snowpacks. The research will build upon previous research of liquid water flow through snow and hillslope runoff processes with a focus on modeling hillslope scale infiltration and runoff processes, though the project allows for a field work and/or remote sensing component depending on the student's interests. This project includes components that welcome applicants from a variety of scientific backgrounds including, but not limited to, hydrology, snow science, soil physics, geophysics, remote sensing, and analysis of large datasets. Skills in programming (R, Matlab, or Python), GIS, and experience with winter fieldwork in mountain environments are highly desirable. The RA will be part of the Mountain Hydrology Research group led by Dr. Ryan Webb (www.webbhydrology.weebly.com). The Ph.D. student will have the option to be part of the Interdisciplinary Program in Hydrologic Sciences program at the University of Wyoming (https://www.uwyo.edu/uwgrad/interdisciplinary-programs/hydrologic-science/index.html).
Desired Qualifications and Skillsets:
Experience with snow science (research or recreationally) and/or soil infiltration modeling (e.g., Hydrus) Ability to work independently Effective communication (oral and written) Experience with GIS This RA position includes tuition/fee coverage, health insurance, along with a stipend.To Apply:
