Purpose:
Athene is investing in modern enterprise platforms to accelerate digital transformation, improve efficiency, and streamline complex workflows. As part of this effort, we are seeking an IT Manager - Appian to lead the strategy, delivery, and operations of our Appian platform. This role combines platform ownership and Agile delivery leadership, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions that support critical business processes. You will work cross-functionally with architecture, infrastructure, security, and business teams to deliver measurable outcomes.
Accountabilities:
Platform Leadership Own the Appian platform strategy, architecture, and operations across environments Ensure performance, scalability, security, and reliability Lead integrations with enterprise systems, APIs, and data platforms Oversee platform upgrades, monitoring, and incident management Establish governance, standards, and best practices Manage vendor relationship with Appian Delivery & Team Leadership Lead Appian development teams delivering workflow and automation solutions Drive Agile execution (sprint planning, backlog management, releases) Partner with Product Owners to align priorities and capacity Ensure adherence to development, security, and integration standards Track delivery metrics and continuously improving team performance Coach and develop engineers while managing technical debt and scalability Collaboration & Improvement Partners across teams ensure smooth production support and operations Promote reusable components and automation frameworks Identify opportunities to improve platform capabilities and delivery efficiency Act as escalation point for platform and delivery issues
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent experience) 6+ years leading enterprise platforms or software delivery teams Experience with Appian or similar low-code/BPM platforms Strong background in Agile/Scrum delivery Expertise in API integrations and enterprise system design Experience with platform operations, monitoring, and upgrades Knowledge of cloud, DevOps/CI-CD, and enterprise architecture standards Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills Experience in financial services or regulated industries (preferred) Why This Role This is a high-impact opportunity to shape a critical enterprise platform, lead high-performing teams, and drive meaningful digital transformation across Athene.
