Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Assistant IT Manager will support the IT Manager in overseeing the IT department's operations. This role includes managing technology infrastructure, providing technical support, and ensuring the seamless operation of all IT-related activities. The Assistant IT Manager will also be involved in strategic planning, project management, and implementing IT policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support :
Provide technical support and guidance to staff. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues. Manage helpdesk operations and ensure timely resolution of IT requests.
IT Infrastructure Management :
Assist in maintaining and upgrading IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and security systems. Monitor system performance and ensure availability and reliability. Implement and manage data backup and recovery processes.
Project Management :
Assist in planning and executing IT projects. Coordinate with various departments to understand their IT needs and provide appropriate solutions. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources.
Policy and Security :
Help develop and enforce IT policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Monitor security threats and take appropriate measures to protect the organization's data and systems.
Vendor Management :
Liaise with vendors for procurement and maintenance of IT hardware and software. Evaluate and recommend new technology solutions.
Training and Development :
Conduct training sessions for staff on new technologies and IT best practices. Support the professional development of IT staff through coaching and mentoring.
Qualifications:
Education :
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
Experience :
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT support or a related role, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
Certifications :
Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA, ITIL, Cisco, Microsoft) are preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
Technical Skills :
Proficiency in managing Windows/Linux environments. Experience with network administration and IT security. Knowledge of cloud computing services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
Analytical Skills :
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Ability to analyze and improve IT processes and systems.
Project Management :
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Communication :
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.
Leadership :
Strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Work Environment:
Location :
Office-based with occasional travel to other company sites.
Schedule :
Full-time position with occasional evening or weekend work for project deadlines or emergency support.
