More than 30 Starting Salary Range $55,000-70,000 - commensurate with qualifications and experience Description Providence Academy | Performing Arts Center Providence Academy, a Pre-K-12 Catholic private school dedicated to "Faith, Knowledge, and Virtue," is seeking a passionate, student-focused Technical Director to lead the technical side of our growing theater program. This role serves as both technical supervisor and educator, working closely with students in our Performing Arts Center while helping shape the next generation of technical theater artists in a faith-based setting.
Essential Responsibilities:
Student Education & Mentorship Recruit, mentor, and supervise middle and upper school students in technical theater Run weekly after-school crew sessions and training Teach and model safe technical practices across all disciplines Lighting, Sound & Technical Systems Lead lighting and sound design, programming, and operation Train and supervise student board operators and crews Maintain equipment and inventories Production Design & Execution Participate in the design process for all productions Coordinate construction, installation, and strike of technical elements Develop technical plans and schedules for each production Safety, Facilities & Leadership Establish and enforce safe practices in all technical spaces Supervise student crews, volunteers, and support personnel Track progress toward production deadlines Collaboration & Communication Attend production meetings and planning sessions Communicate with students, families, volunteers, and staff Foster a positive, professional, educational program culture About the Role The Technical Director partners closely with the Artistic Director and production team in a traditional theatrical structure, with an emphasis on collaboration and student growth. Qualifications Experience in scenic design or construction. Depending on the candidate's strengths, responsibilities may expand into projections, properties, special effects, or other technical areas.
