Full Time Overview:
The Technical Director has overall responsibility for leading and maintaining the audio, video, lighting, computers, and media production functions of Rocky Mount for regular church services and special events. In addition, the Technical Director will oversee the production graphics, videos, and other creative technical elements for Sunday gatherings.
Goal:
The Technical Director's primary goal is to ensure that church services and events across the facility (including church hosted weddings & funerals) and ministries are able to use technology effectively and strategically to support and enhance the experience of those participating.
Volunteer Leadership and Development:
- Recruit, organize, train, schedule and manage volunteers for worship services and support youth and children's ministry as needed.
- Provide consistent feedback, gratitude and appreciation to production team members.
- For every role, develop and maintain standard operating procedures to be used for training and ensure consistent completion of tasks (including checklists of important steps unique to both recurring gatherings and special events).
- Build a strong, encouraging team culture.
Oversee Service Production & Related Systems:
- Prepare and accommodate for AVL/IT/Livestream needs for Sunday services, special events, or other ministry events.
- Produce slides, video, and graphic elements for Sunday services, special events, or other ministry events.
- Ensure ProPresenter preparation for volunteer operation.
- Support service programming with Lighting & environmental projection programming.
- Develop detailed knowledge of operation and integration of all AVL/IT/Livestream equipment.
- Coordinate with Worship ministry leaders to ensure rehearsals are supported.
Stewardship:
- Assess current and future technology needs and prepare acquisition strategies for review with Worship Pastor.
- After approval, oversee the purchase, inventory, maintenance, and operation of all network and audio/video/lighting/media production equipment with the goal of standardization.
Collaborate with
Pastoral Staff:
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and departmental meetings. Attend committee meetings, such as Church Council, as necessary or by Pastoral request.
- Regularly review the teaching calendar and communicate the need for information or clarification with the Pastors and staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor, Worship Pastor or the Staff Parish Relations Committee.
Skills and Ability:
- Aptitude for learning and creating systems and processes to facilitate the use of technology by RMC's ministry teams.
- Ability to organize, train, and lead teams in live AVL production environments.
- Experience with the following live production equipment & systems:
- Yamaha and Allen & Heath Digital Mixing consoles, Dante audio networking
- Blackmagic cameras & video switchers
- Software programmed DMX lighting control systems
- ProPresenter with multiple output destinations
- Experience with the following software & web platforms:
- Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, & Illustrator
- Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Planning Center.
- Working knowledge of DAW's
- Protools, Logic Pro, etc
