Non-Exempt Position Summary The Tony-award winning
UTAH SHAKESPEARE
FESTIVAL, a professional theater company in residence at Southern Utah University, is accepting applications for Production Staff for the 2026 season. The Utah Shakespeare Festival produces an eight-show repertory season and three Green Shows across four venues in the summer/fall of each year. Position details below. This is an Hourly position with employment dates from late April to early July.
Date of first consideration:
04/17/2026. Essential Functions The Assistant Technical Director assists the Technical Director with supervising construction and load-in of scenery for assigned productions. Participates in the construction of scenic elements as needed. Completes shop improvement and organization projects as assigned. May provide some technical drawings for construction.
Education & Experience Minimum Qualifications:
Intermediate and advanced experience in proper and safe use of typical shop tools and equipment, wood and steel construction techniques or other related technical theater fields. Knowledge of safe operations of all tools and equipment used in typical theatrical construction and installation for wood and steel (personnel lifts, linesets, etc.) Must be able to carry 50 lbs. for 50 feet unassisted. Must be able to use ladders as a part of daily tasks. Experience in leading crews required. Knowledge of safe rigging practices, AutoCAD, automation, or rotating repertory experience are a plus. Supplemental Information Position is contingent on funding.
