Job Description
The Vice President, Software Engineering is a pivotal role within Vontier's Convenience Retail business, spearheading the global engineering organization dedicated to retail solutions technologies. This encompasses a broad spectrum of products and systems, from cloud IoT to on premise devices and systems - including point-of-sale (POS) systems microservices, Cloud SaaS IoT processing, telemetry, asset management, incident management, mobile POS, self-checkout, onsite manager workstations, IoT Asset Management platforms, and Analytics and tracking applications tailored to meet the dynamic needs of the retail sector.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Lead and inspire a diverse global engineering team across multiple locations, including the US, Argentina, Europe and India.
- Oversee a significant business portfolio, supporting a global operation with substantial revenue streams.
- Craft and execute a cohesive technology vision and architectural roadmap, encompassing all facets of engineering, software development, DevOps, ProdOps, QA Automation and maintenance for critical product lines.
- Collaborate closely with the CTO, General Managers, and other key executives to develop and implement the Retail Technology vision, ensuring the delivery of next-generation retail solutions to the global market.

- A minimum of 10+ years in a leadership role within the retail solutions sector or within a pure play tech company.
- Deep knowledge of leading technology providers, modern cloud systems, in the industry.
- Executive presence with a proven track record of engaging with large customers and peers.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of executive-level presentations.
- Experience managing large engineering teams (100-250+).
- A history of developing innovative large-scale solutions, including next-gen POS applications, IoT and cloud-based systems that are well architected and scalable.
- A comprehensive understanding of industry security standards and PCI certifications.
- Expertise in leading software development on cloud-native systems utilizing modern architectural patterns.
- Familiarity with contemporary tech stacks, including front end, back end, Cloud and various database technologies.

Develop and align software strategies with business objectives, ensuring organizational and resource alignment for successful delivery.
Leadership:
Provide clear direction and mentorship as part of the global Engineering Management Team, fostering a high-performing software organization.Commercial Acumen:
Maintain a commercial focus, implementing cost-effective product development strategies within the retail solutions domain.Innovation:
Drive innovation within software engineering and development processes, staying abreast of new technologies and methodologies.Software Development & Delivery:
Demonstrate a strong technical foundation in software and firmware development, ensuring high-quality, secure, and compliant solutions.Quality Management:
Uphold exceptional quality standards for software and firmware, overseeing comprehensive test strategies and quality objectives. The base compensation range for this position is $235k - $300k per annum. Your actual base salary will be determined based upon numerous factors which may include relevant experience, skills, location (labor market data), credentials (education, certifications), and internal equity.
