57708BR Applications Manager General Atomics Poway California Job Summary This position is responsible for managing the development, design, implementation and optimization of applications and systems. Manages information technology and systems functions as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages all applications activities for assigned business unit(s), group(s) or company. Develops and modifies procedures to ensure application standards to maximize efficiency and support platform compatibility; develops, interprets and modifies policy, practices and guidelines. Identifies issues, recommends solutions and manages activities to protect the company's data, tools and information systems. May participate with management in the development and implementation of annual and long-term strategic objectives for the assigned business unit(s), group or company. Represents the group or company as a primary contact with internal and external representatives; makes internal and external presentations as required. Manages the planning, attraction, selection, retention and development of personnel. Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of servers, storage systems, and network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Develops and implements system policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and security requirements. Monitors system performance, identifies potential issues, and implements solutions to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity. Coordinates with other ITS towers (infrastructure/operations, information assurance) to ensure seamless integration of systems and applications. Ensures proper segregation of duties and access controls for system users to maintain data integrity and security. Manages system backups, disaster recovery plans, and business continuity strategies to safeguard critical operations and data. Provides technical expertise and guidance to resolve complex system-related issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams as needed. Evaluates, selects, and manages vendor relationships for hardware, software, and system services to meet business needs effectively. Stays current with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend and implement solutions that align with organizational goals. Job Qualifications Typically requires a bachelors degree in Information Technology or a related field and eleven or more years of progressive Must demonstrate a detailed understanding of applications concepts, techniques and standards. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education. Must be able to organize, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads and staff to meet established milestones. Must be customer focused and possess: the ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop innovative solutions to a variety of complex issues; strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings to a variety of audiences; strong interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees; the ability to represent the company and serve as a spokesperson on external projects and/or programs; and strong computer skills. Ability to work on a self-initiated basis and lead in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.applications experience.
