Job Description

Location:
Remote, United States Employment type:
Full-time Compensation:
$100,000-$150,000 base salary, depending on experience and location
Travel:
Occasional travel to Irvine, California, and client locations About the role We are a distributed product development agency that designs and builds complex software products for our clients. Our engineering organization is based in India, while our product and operations team, as well as our clients and many of their stakeholders are located across the United States. We are seeking a Client Technical Delivery Lead to serve as the stateside technical and delivery interface for one of our largest and most strategic client relationships. This is not a traditional software engineering position. It is a client-facing technical leadership role for someone who can understand complex software initiatives, communicate credibly with technical and nontechnical stakeholders, and translate effectively between a U.S.-based client organization and an offshore engineering team. You will work closely with our engineering lead, functioning as a stateside extension of that leader during U.S. business hours. You will help ensure that client questions receive accurate answers, requirements are understood, delivery risks are surfaced early, and commitments reflect engineering reality. Success in this role requires technical fluency, strong judgment, excellent communication, and the ability to build trust within a complex stakeholder environment. What you will doOwn the client's day-to-day technical delivery experience Serve as a trusted, accessible technical and delivery contact for client stakeholders during U.S. business hours. Develop strong working relationships across a complex client organization. Lead client discussions involving requirements, implementation decisions, delivery status, technical constraints, and risks. Ensure that client stakeholders receive clear, accurate, and appropriately timed communication. Identify emerging concerns and manage expectations before they become escalations. Coordinate responses to delivery issues and technical incidents without creating unsupported commitments. Connect the client with the engineering organization Partner closely with the engineering lead and development team in India. Translate client objectives, questions, and concerns into clear technical and delivery inputs. Translate engineering constraints, dependencies, risks, and recommendations into language appropriate for business and executive stakeholders. Prepare for handoffs across time zones so that questions and decisions continue moving without avoidable delays. Represent engineering positions accurately while recognizing when the engineering lead or another specialist needs to participate directly. Maintain clear records of decisions, assumptions, dependencies, owners, and outstanding questions. Improve requirements and delivery clarity Lead requirements-clarification conversations with client stakeholders. Recognize when a seemingly simple request may have broader architectural, integration, security, data, or operational implications. Help turn ambiguous requests into sufficiently defined problems, requirements, acceptance criteria, and decisions. Challenge assumptions constructively and identify missing information before work is committed. Partner with engineering to ensure estimates and delivery plans include clear assumptions and dependencies. Protect the team from premature commitments while helping the client make timely decisions. Manage delivery health and stakeholder expectations Maintain visibility into milestones, risks, dependencies, decisions, and client commitments. Communicate progress and risks in a concise, candid, and audience-appropriate manner. Facilitate prioritization when client requests compete for limited capacity. Coordinate technical and delivery escalations across client, engineering, product, and agency leadership. Help distinguish among defects, requirements gaps, scope changes, technical debt, and infrastructure issues. Support retrospectives and process improvements that strengthen delivery predictability. What this role owns This role owns: Stateside client-facing technical communication Requirements clarification and decision facilitation Delivery visibility and expectation management Cross-time-zone coordination Stakeholder trust and communication quality Documentation of decisions, commitments, risks, and assumptions Coordination of technical escalations The India-based engineering lead retains primary ownership of: Software architecture and technical direction Engineering standards and implementation decisions Technical feasibility and estimate validation Engineering execution and team leadership Code quality and production engineering practices The Client Technical Delivery Lead is expected to understand and communicate technical decisions, but not to make unsupported architecture or delivery commitments independently. What we are looking for Approximately 4 or more years of experience in software engineering, technical delivery, solutions engineering, implementation consulting, technical program management, or a comparable role. Prior experience working closely with software engineering teams on the delivery of complex applications or platforms. Sufficient technical depth to understand system architecture, APIs, integrations, data flows, environments, deployments, dependencies, and common software-delivery risks. Demonstrated success communicating with both engineers and nontechnical business stakeholders. Experience leading client-facing discussions in a consulting, agency, professional-services, implementation, or enterprise-software environment. Strong judgment when information is incomplete or multiple stakeholders have competing priorities. Ability to communicate uncertainty without losing credibility or creating unnecessary alarm. Excellent written communication, meeting leadership, and follow-through. Experience coordinating distributed or offshore engineering teams across significant time-zone differences. Ability to establish trust without overstating technical certainty or authority. Availability during agreed U.S. business hours, with reliable overlap with our India engineering team. Particularly relevant backgrounds We are especially interested in candidates who have followed one of these paths: Software engineer who moved into technical delivery, consulting, program management, or client leadership Solutions engineer or implementation architect with responsibility beyond presales Technical program manager with an engineering background and significant external client exposure Technical delivery or project leader with strong software-development fluency Technical consultant who has coordinated enterprise stakeholders and distributed engineering teams Current hands-on coding proficiency is not required. However, candidates must be able to participate meaningfully in technical conversations, understand engineering concerns, ask strong questions, and communicate technical information accurately. Helpful additional experience Experience in a digital product agency or technology consulting firm Experience supporting a major enterprise account Familiarity with Agile software-development practices Experience with cloud platforms, APIs, system integrations, data products, or modern web and mobile applications Experience participating in incident response or production issue communication Experience improving delivery processes across client and engineering organizations Familiarity with Linear, Confluence, product documentation, architecture diagrams, and related collaboration tools What success looks like Within the first six months, the successful candidate will: Become a trusted point of contact for the client's principal stakeholders. Establish a productive operating rhythm with the India engineering lead. Communicate technical and delivery matters accurately without requiring frequent correction. Improve the clarity of requirements, decisions, ownership, and client commitments. Reduce surprises by identifying risks and stakeholder concerns earlier. Ensure client questions and engineering decisions move efficiently across time zones. Create greater confidence in delivery without masking uncertainty or overcommitting the team. Reduce the amount of routine client coordination and escalation management required from senior agency leadership. Compensation and benefits The anticipated base salary range for this position is $100,000-$150,000 , depending on relevant experience, technical background, geographic location, and demonstrated client leadership. The position also includes the company's standard employee benefits. Final compensation will reflect the scope the successful candidate is prepared to own. Working environment This is a remote position open to candidates authorized to work in the United States. Candidates located in Central or Eastern time zones may have particularly useful overlap with our India-based engineering organization, although qualified candidates throughout the United States are encouraged to apply. Occasional travel may be required for client meetings, team planning, or visits to our Irvine, California, office. We value clear communication, personal accountability, sound judgment, intellectual honesty, and respectful collaboration across cultures and time zones. Our client environment Our clients include commercial businesses, nonprofit organizations, and faith-based organizations, including Christian ministries. Their organizational cultures and meeting practices may reflect their respective missions and values. For example, some client or internal meetings may include religious language or begin with prayer. Employees are not required to share any client's religious beliefs, make statements of faith, lead prayer, or participate in religious observances. We welcome team members of all faiths and those who do not identify with a faith tradition. This role does require the ability to work respectfully and effectively with clients and colleagues whose beliefs, cultures, and organizational practices may differ from one's own. We are committed to maintaining an inclusive workplace and providing reasonable accommodations consistent with applicable law. Equal opportunity Cappital is an equal opportunity employer.
