•State-Sponsored EHR ImplementationThe Health IT Project Manager will lead the planning, procurement support, and implementation of a State-sponsored Electronic Health Record (EHR) solution as part of Rhode Island's Rural Health Transformation Project (RHTP). This role is responsible for managing a highly complex, multi-year Health IT initiative that aims to provide rural healthcare providers with access to a centralized EHR platform that meets federal, state, and interoperability requirements while reducing costs through a shared-services model.
Working under the direction of the State Health IT Coordinator and senior EOHHS leadership, the Project Manager will oversee vendor contracts, coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, and ensure the successful execution of planning and implementation activities. The individual will manage requirements gathering, landscape assessments, gap analyses, market evaluations, procurement support, and ultimately the deployment of the selected EHR platform across participating rural healthcare organizations.
This position serves as the primary liaison among state agencies, contracted vendors, healthcare providers, and technology partners to ensure project milestones, deliverables, timelines, and compliance requirements are met. The Project Manager will also provide subject matter expertise in enterprise healthcare software implementations, interoperability, clinical data standards, and outcomes reporting.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Project Management, Healthcare Administration, a licensed healthcare profession, or a related field.
Significant professional experience managing information technology implementations, preferably within healthcare environments.
Demonstrated experience leading EHR implementation, migration, or conversion projects.
Proven experience managing complex enterprise software implementation initiatives.
Strong knowledge of healthcare IT systems, clinical data standards, interoperability frameworks, and data exchange requirements.
Experience managing multiple vendors, contracts, and cross-functional stakeholders within large-scale projects.
Ability to oversee project timelines, milestones, deliverables, and contract compliance.
Exceptional organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage numerous stakeholder inputs simultaneously.
Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities across technical, operational, and executive audiences.
Experience collecting, monitoring, and reporting project outcomes and performance metrics.
Knowledge of HIPAA, healthcare data security requirements, and regulatory compliance standards.
Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
