JOB SUMMARY

Riis Settlement is looking for a creative and enthusiastic Activity Specialist - Visual Arts to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in visual arts, a passion for working with youth, and the ability to develop engaging art projects. The Activity Specialist will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading visual arts activities that promote creativity and self-expression in our afterschool program.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Major Duties and Responsibilities Design and lead a variety of art projects and lessons that are age-appropriate, culturally diverse, and aligned with the program's goals. Create a positive and inclusive environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and exploring different art forms and techniques. Observe students' progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt activities to meet individual and group needs. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized art space, including proper use and storage of art supplies and materials. Work with other team members to integrate visual arts activities with other program components and contribute to a cohesive afterschool experience. Keep accurate records of attendance, lesson plans, and student achievements. Statement of Skills, Knowledge & Abilities High School Diploma or GED. Strong knowledge of various art forms, techniques, and mediums. Ability to communicate artistic concepts in an engaging and accessible manner. Excellent organizational and classroom management skills. Ability to work with diverse groups of students and tailor activities to their needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Creativity, enthusiasm, and a passion for fostering artistic expression.
