Loveland, CO Full-Time | On-Site | Approximately 30% Travel We're looking for a Senior Controls Engineer who knows industrial automation and can own projects from programming through startup. This is a hands-on role. You'll be working on custom automation equipment, programming PLCs and HMIs, troubleshooting systems, supporting installations, and working directly with customers and the rest of the engineering team. The biggest thing we're looking for is someone who is genuinely strong with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell controls and is comfortable walking into a machine or automation system, figuring out what's going on, and getting it running. You do not need to be a robotics expert. Robotics and vision experience are a plus, but strong controls experience is much more important. What you'll be doing: Programming and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley PLCs using Studio 5000 Developing and modifying HMI applications Designing controls for new automation equipment Debugging and commissioning equipment in-house and at customer facilities Working with drives, servos, sensors, safety systems, industrial networks, and other controls hardware Troubleshooting electrical and controls issues Supporting projects from design through installation and startup Working directly with customers during commissioning and startup Helping guide less experienced engineers when needed Traveling to customer sites for installations, startups, and service work Travel is typically around 30% and comes with the territory in custom automation. It won't be every week, but you should be comfortable getting on-site when a project needs you. What we're looking for: We're looking for someone with solid real-world controls experience, not someone who has only made minor PLC changes or supported existing equipment. Ideally, you have: Strong Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLC programming experience Strong Studio 5000 experience HMI programming experience Experience with industrial automation or custom machinery Experience commissioning and starting up equipment Strong electrical troubleshooting ability Experience with VFDs, servos, safety systems, sensors, and industrial networks The ability to work independently and take ownership of projects Good communication skills with both customers and other engineers Experience with Fanuc robots, Keyence vision systems, or robotic automation is a plus, but it is not required. Why this role is worth looking at: This isn't a plant maintenance controls job where you'll spend your day keeping the same equipment alive. You'll work on different automation projects, solve different problems, and be involved in projects from the engineering stage all the way through startup. If you like building things, troubleshooting equipment, programming controls, and seeing a project actually come to life, this is the kind of role you'll probably enjoy. We're looking for someone in the Northern Colorado / Denver-area market, or someone who is seriously planning to relocate to the area.
