EDI Analyst

Description Role Objective The candidate will be responsible for the integrity of data flowing between our Terminal Operating System (TOS) and external partners (vessels, vendors, and customers). This role ensures that all voyage, container, booking, and manifest data is synchronized perfectly, while providing high-level support for IT Department initiatives. Requirements Core Technical Skillset 1. EDI & Systems Integration +

EDI Standards:

Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting EDI protocols (e.g., EDIFACT, ANSI X12) specifically for the maritime industry (COPRAR, BAPLIE, MOVINS, CODECO). +

TOS Management:

Experience with Terminal Operating Systems (e.g., Navis N4, Tideworks, Mainsail) to verify vessel voyage updates and container bookings. +

Data Validation:

Ability to perform "Gap Analysis" between manifest data and system entries to ensure 100% accuracy in vessel arrivals and departures. 2. Data Analysis & Computer Science +

Data Auditing:

Strong ability to analyze large datasets to identify discrepancies in EDI communications before they impact terminal operations. +

Programming/Scripting:

Proficiency in Python or SQL for automating report generation and cleaning data "noise" within the EDI stream. +

Troubleshooting:

Advanced logical reasoning to identify whether a communication failure is due to a network error, a vendor formatting issue, or a TOS software bug. 3. IT Department Support +

System Maintenance:

Ability to assist the IT Manager with hardware/software deployments, network monitoring, and security protocol updates. +

Technical Documentation:

Creating clear logs of EDI errors and "fix" procedures to be used for future vendor training or system patches. Professional Competencies +

Stakeholder Communication:

Ability to translate technical EDI issues into clear instructions for customers, vendors, and internal operations staff. +

Detail Orientation:

Extreme focus on "micro-data" (container numbers, weight seals, and voyage codes) where small errors can lead to significant operational delays. +

Adaptability:

Capacity to pivot from data analysis to hands-on IT support tasks as directed by the IT Manager. Education & Experience Requirements +

Academic Background:

Currently pursuing or holding a degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or Information Technology. +

Industry Knowledge:

Prior exposure to logistics, supply chain, or marine terminal operations is highly preferred. +

Bilingual Skills:

Proficiency in English to facilitate communication with international vessel lines and vendors.
