General Description The Broward County Board of Commissioners Enterprise Technology Services Division is seeking a hands-on, mid-level Firewall Administrator to support and enhance the security posture of our large-scale enterprise network. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a commitment to least-privilege access principles, and the ability to effectively manage a wide range of security technologies in a dynamic environment. Paid Parental Leave Key Responsibilities:
- Perform hands-on administration and support of firewalls across a large and complex network environment.
- Conduct frequent updates and maintenance across a diverse suite of security products protecting external network connections.
- Analyze, configure, and maintain over 1,000+ firewall rules, ensuring adherence to least-privileged access principles for inbound and outbound traffic.
- Inspect and remediate micro-segmented network environments, ensuring only valid and department-specific data flows are permitted.
- Manage web-filtering technologies, including classification, blocking, and monitoring of potentially harmful or rogue websites.
- Monitor and analyze Internet traffic flows across redundant egress points, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
- Deploy firewalls in new site locations, ensuring consistent rule standardization, configuration integrity, and successful integration with central management consoles.
- Provide reactive, rapid-response support to zero-day threats, executing defensive countermeasures to maintain safe and uninterrupted operations.
Preferences:
- Two or more Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP) Certifications
- Fortinet Certified Expert (FCX)
- Cisco CCNA certification or higher
SCOPE OF WORK

Provides design, procurement, implementation, and administration of the network infrastructure- routers, switches, and plans; provides procurement, implementation, and administration of firewalls; provides administration of the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone system; and manages network related projects.
