System Administrator I Grade 22
Salary:
$58,136.00 ($27.95 hr) - $62,940.80 ($30.26 hr)

PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this classification is to perform difficult technical work and participate in network-related functions. Work is performed under general supervision. Provides support to IT Specialist I and IT Specialist
II ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Install, administer, and maintain business-critical infrastructure including power equipment (UPS) and server infrastructure (physical and virtual servers, host, storage, and related software and equipment). Monitors system performance, verifies systems are working properly; performs upgrades as necessary; supports and maintains servers and associated equipment, and ensures high availability. Install, administer, and maintain software including but not limited to Active Directory, endpoint protection operating systems, Office 365 Performs server and security audits. Develop and implement program configuration changes for existing applications Ensures compatibility and interoperability of County computer systems. Installs and assists with other technical resources as needed: copiers, printers, audio/visual equipment, smartphones, and tablets. Install, administer, and maintain the county phone system. Prepares and maintains up-to-date documentation supporting assigned and related areas of responsibility. Responsible for detailing the status and steps taken on technical issues before promotion to the next level of support. On-call support 24/7 on a rotation is required
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Performs the duties of IT Specialist I, and IT Specialist II in the absence of same. Performs other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The ability to attend and incorporate learning from approved training on a regular basis is required. Excellent analytical, communication, interpersonal, technical writing, and organizational skills. Ability to use technical and analytical knowledge to solve problems and make effective decisions. Expert understanding and the ability to support a Windows-based operating system including Active Directory. Functional understanding and the ability to support networking/distributed computing environment concepts, principles of routing, and design and upkeep of consistent network-wide file systems layouts and security. Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve potential and real operational and system deficiencies to ensure continued and non-disrupted service to system users. Ability to work independently and effectively on self-directed priorities and in group settings with technical and non-technical staff. Ability to manage multiple projects and act as a vendor liaison to acquire and implement new systems, troubleshoot current systems and assist with new or maintaining various system integrations in an efficient manner. Working knowledge of VMWare and Windows Servers Working knowledge of backup and recovery solutions Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and judgment in dealing with sensitive or confidential information.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A
minimum of 4+ years of experience with IT maintenance and technical support is required. Education and experience or the equivalent of a Bachelor of Computer Science or related field and two years of related work experience in systems administration.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to operate a variety of automated office/computer equipment including a personal computer, mainframe computer, and peripherals. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for medium work.

Requires the ability to learn and understand complex technical principles and techniques; to understand departmental policies and procedures; to make independent judgments in absence of supervision; and to acquire and be able to expound on knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.

Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, and to follow verbal and written instructions.
NUMERICAL APTITUDE
Requires the ability to add and subtract totals; multiply and divide totals; determine percentages; and determine time and weight.

Requires the ability to visually inspect items for proper length, width, and shape using job related equipment.
MOTOR COORDINATION
Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes in using automated office/computer equipment.
MANUAL DEXTERITY
Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, automated office/computer equipment, control knobs, switches, etc. Must have the ability to use one hand for twisting motion or turning motion while coordinating other hand with different activities. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
COLOR DIFFERENTIATION
May require the ability to discern color.
INTERPERSONAL TEMPERAMENT
Requires the ability to deal with and relate to people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be able to adapt to and perform under minimal stress when confronted with an emergency.
PHYSICAL COMMUNICATION
May require the ability to talk, express, or exchange ideas by means of spoken words and/or hear and perceive nature of sounds by ear.
