Network Analyst opportunity in Des Plaines, IL at Oakton College—where your technical expertise powers education and innovation across Illinois. The Network Analyst manages and supports the technical infrastructure that keeps campus operations running smoothly, with an annual salary of $79,844. This role will oversee campus networks, switching, routing, wireless systems, firewalls, cabling, security protocols, and connected systems while troubleshooting issues and maintaining performance standards.
Responsibilities:
Provide technical support for college-wide data networks, including Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, WANs, Wireless networking, and TCP/IP protocols Install and maintain hardware and software critical to network operations, including switches, routers, wireless access points, and firewalls Perform copper and fiber optic cable termination and testing according to industrial standards while identifying and resolving cabling problems Monitor system performance and security while creating and maintaining management and performance monitoring scripts Work as a team member with data center staff to configure, deploy, secure, and troubleshoot host-based network services
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience Minimum 2 years of IT experience focused on networking Required technical knowledge: TCP/IP, routed networks, LAN/WAN, switching, routing Preferred qualifications: Cisco CCNA or higher certification, Cisco equipment experience, Python, PowerShell, Unix shell scripting, Visio, AutoCAD, fiber and copper cabling expertise, additional networking-focused training or certifications Ready to take the next steps in your career?
