3002564693-2 Apply for this job now Job Description Abbott Laboratories seeks a Senior Warehouse Controls Engineer to design, implement, and optimize automated warehouse control systems supporting biotech and pharmaceutical operations. You will lead
PLC/SCADA
development, integrate WCS with WMS/ERP, improve throughput and reliability, and ensure compliance with GMP and quality standards. Responsibilities include system design, commissioning, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, documentation, and change control. Collaborate with operations, IT, and quality teams while mentoring junior engineers in a mission-driven, inclusive environment. Responsibilities Design, program, and maintain PLC/SCADA-based warehouse control systems for automated material handling Integrate WCS with WMS, ERP, and MES systems to support biotech and pharmaceutical operations Lead commissioning, testing, and validation of new and upgraded warehouse control solutions Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysis to improve uptime and throughput Develop and maintain technical documentation, specifications, and SOPs in compliance with GMP and quality standards Manage change control, risk assessments, and validation activities for controls modifications Collaborate with operations, IT, quality, and supply chain teams to align systems with business and regulatory needs Identify and implement process and automation improvements for safety, accuracy, and efficiency Support audits and inspections related to automation and controls within regulated environments Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians Required Skills Warehouse control systems (WCS) design and optimization PLC programming (Allen-Bradley/Siemens or similar)
SCADA/HMI
configuration and support Industrial communications (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus) Automation system troubleshooting and root cause analysis System integration with WMS/ERP/MESSQL or database querying for system data analysis Change control and validation in regulated environments (GMP) Documentation, SOPs, and technical specifications Cross-functional project coordination and stakeholder communication
