About General Energy Corporation General Energy Corporation (GEC) is an Illinois-based commercial and industrial solar and battery storage EPC contractor with over 40 years in the energy industry. Since 1985, we've designed, engineered, and installed hundreds of commercial solar and battery projects across Illinois and nationally, serving manufacturers, industrial facilities, commercial properties, and institutional customers. We're growing our behind-the-meter battery storage business and looking for an Electrical Engineer with a Professional Engineering (P.E.) license to lead the electrical design of our commercial solar-plus-storage projects. Position Summary The Electrical Engineer, P.E. will own the electrical design of GEC's behind-the-meter battery energy storage system (BESS) and solar projects for commercial and industrial customers. This role includes preparing full engineering plan sets, single-line diagrams, protection coordination, interconnection studies, and stamped drawings for permit and utility submittal. You'll work closely with our project development, construction, and customer teams from feasibility through commissioning. Key Responsibilities Design complete electrical plan sets for commercial behind-the-meter battery storage and solar PV projects, including PE-stamped drawings suitable for permit and utility submittal Prepare single-line diagrams (SLDs), three-line diagrams, panel schedules, conduit and cable schedules, grounding plans, and protection coordination studies Design interconnection to customer switchgear (typically 480V to 12.47 kV), including protection relaying, transformer sizing, and coordination with utility interconnection requirements (ComEd, Ameren, and other utilities) Perform load studies, short-circuit analysis, arc flash analysis (NFPA 70E), and voltage drop calculations Coordinate with structural, civil, and mechanical engineers to deliver integrated project design packages Prepare and submit utility interconnection applications and respond to utility RFIs Review manufacturer specifications and equipment submittals (Tesla, Sungrow, Socomec, Generac, SolarEdge, SMA, PanelClaw, Unirac, etc.) Ensure designs comply with NEC (2017 through current), IEEE 1547, UL 1741, NFPA 855, and applicable local codes Support project construction teams during installation, commissioning, and inspection Provide technical input to sales team during proposal development and customer conversations Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Illinois (or ability to obtain via comity within 90 days of hire) Minimum 2 years of experience designing full electrical plan sets for commercial behind-the-meter solar and/or battery storage projects Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 855 (energy storage), IEEE 1547 (interconnection), and UL 1741 (inverter standards) Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Experience preparing PE-stamped drawings for building permit and utility interconnection submittal Strong written and verbal communication skills for client, utility, and inspector interactions Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites in the Chicago metro area (occasional overnight travel for out-of-state projects) Preferred Qualifications Experience designing 500 k

commercial BESS interconnected to ComEd or Ameren distribution Experience with medium-voltage (up to 34.5 kV) equipment and switchgear design Familiarity with SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, ETAP, or Helioscope Experience with grid-forming inverters, microgrid controls, and islanding schemes Experience with Illinois Shines / Adjustable Block Program interconnection requirements Familiarity with IRA prevailing wage and apprenticeship documentation requirements Experience preparing arc flash studies and coordination studies per IEEE 1584 and
