Senior Network Engineer /
Service Activation Lead Location:
Scott Air Force Base, IL onsite 5x/week This position requires U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance to start.
Compensation:
Base Salary:
$90,000 - $100,000 per year + Benefits Primary Responsibilities Lead customer coordination and execution of Initial Test & Acceptance (IT&A) and service activations in accordance with DISA standards Work directly with customers, solution architects, and vendor SMEs to implement changes and resolve complex issues Manage Service Orders in alignment with Change Management procedures Ensure Telecommunication Service Orders (TSOs) are accurate and in place for all network changes Initiate and validate network device configurations using configlets Analyze DISN systems and databases to validate customer requirements and ensure proper implementation Design and implement solutions to complex technical problems through testing, documentation, and configuration updates Coordinate circuit activations with commercial vendors to deliver end-to-end connectivity Monitor network performance post-implementation to assess impact to customer traffic Apply systems analysis techniques to determine hardware, software, and functional requirements Engage with DISA PMs and stakeholders to resolve unclear or incomplete requirements Facilitate approvals and drive service requests through completion Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members Basic Qualifications Active Secret security clearance (required at start) DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE or equivalent) Strong knowledge of: o Network hardware, configurations, and testing processes o Network engineering, problem management, and performance management o Telecommunications and IT concepts Experience with: o Routing protocols (BGP, ISIS) o Switching (VLANs, trunking) o Network services (OSPF, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN, VPN, VRF) Ability to configure, activate, test, and analyze network systems Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills Ability to operate independently while contributing to team objectives Preferred Qualifications Prior experience supporting DISA or familiarity with DISA systems/processes Experience with: o SharePoint data entry and workflow management o DISA Request Fulfillment processes (TSRs, TSOs, completion reports) Experience performing customer outreach and coordination Understanding of DoD structure, policies, and mission support environment Familiarity with DISA organizational elements (e.g., DITCO) Relevant certifications such as: o Cisco (CCNA, CCNP) o Microsoft (MCSE) o Security (Security+, CISSP) o ITIL Required Education & Experience Bachelor s degree and 4-8 years of relevant experience, OR Master s degree with 2-6 years of experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience
