Responsible for applying in-depth knowledge of network technologies, networking protocols, and communication practices to troubleshoot complex issues. The primary function of this role is to perform escalated network repair, execute tactical projects, and own network troubleshooting for issues referred by Tier 1 or other support channels. This position resolves application and network problems, supports core network services, and serves as a subject matter expert in multiple specialized areas. This role provides advanced technical support for customer and internal network environments, bridging frontline support and engineering by diagnosing escalated issues, coordinating repairs, documenting findings, and supporting planned network changes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Troubleshoots and analyzes complex network designs and issues using knowledge of network technologies, designs, and product offerings. Develops short- and long-term resolution plans, applies documented network standards, and provides technical feedback to Engineering regarding design and product changes or enhancements. Performs these responsibilities in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment while maintaining professional communication with customers. Manages mid-range projects with minimal supervision, including operations requirements, document reviews, Method of Procedure (MOP) reviews, software and hardware upgrades, maintenance scheduling, and related coordination. Conducts detailed MOP reviews and event deconfliction to minimize customer impact during scheduled maintenance windows. Understands, applies, and maintains network standards as documented by Engineering. Works with vendors to determine root cause and resolve chronic issues. Creates, documents, and implements corrective action plans to address recurring problems.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in telecommunications, information technology, networking, or a related field; equivalent work or military experience; or a combination of education and experience is acceptable.
EXPERIENCE
At least 2 years of network experience in a Tier 1, Tier 2, network operations, managed services, or equivalent technical support environment. TCP/IP knowledge and understanding of Data/IP networks
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES
Strong leadership/administrative skills (multitasking, planning, and organizing) a plus LAN and WAN networking experience, including routing, switching, VLANs, IP addressing, subnetting, and common network troubleshooting tools. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers, vendors, and internal teams. Working knowledge of scripting or automation tools used to support network troubleshooting, reporting, or repeatable administrative tasks. Good troubleshooting skills and methodologies Experienced in analyzing issues, distilling and communicating their relevant aspects Ability to identify risks/issues and develop recommendations for resolution Shift work and on-call flexibility Ability to document troubleshooting steps, findings, network changes, and corrective actions clearly and consistently.
