Job Requirements Fort Meade, MD Top Secret/SCI Full Scope Polygraph Senior Level Career (10+ yrs experience) Salary not specified Join Premium to unlock estimated salaries Job Description NineFX is seeking a Systems Engineer Level 3 to support advanced systems engineering activities across Linux/Unix, Windows Server, VMware ESXi, Dell/HP server hardware, and NetApp storage environments in mission‑critical government settings. The SE3 leads engineering design, integration, test planning, lifecycle management, and secure configuration across complex multi‑platform infrastructures. This role integrates hands‑on system administration with formal DoD systems engineering—including requirements analysis, architecture development (DoDAF/SOA), interface definition, CCB support, risk assessments, and modeling/simulation. What You'll Be Doing Linux/Unix, Windows & Virtualization Engineering
  • Engineer, configure, secure, and maintain RHEL7+, Windows Server 2012+, and VMware ESXi environments
  • Manage kernels, OS installs, package configurations, system tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting
  • Support Active Directory with Centrify integration; create/assign Linux identities and groups
  • Perform server hardware upgrades (Dell, HP, custom) including memory, disk, swap, and chassis maintenance
  • Execute NetApp storage migrations from legacy platforms to modern solutions Security, Hardening & Vulnerability Management
  • Install and manage McAfee/Trellix and Nessus agents
  • Conduct vulnerability scanning and compliance activities (IAVA/CVE)
  • Patch and harden systems using Red Hat Satellite, WSUS, and approved STIG‑aligned scripts Systems Engineering & Architecture Development
  • Analyze system requirements, architectures, and CONOPS; refine functional and system specifications
  • Create system architectures using DoDAF and SOA approaches
  • Develop interface definitions, design solutions, and operational concepts
  • Coordinate CCB actions, technical reviews, and multi‑discipline engineering issue resolution Integration, Verification & Lifecycle Support
  • Support design, development, integration, verification planning, and engineering documentation
  • Define verification methods, evaluation criteria, and support certification/accreditation activities
  • Conduct trade studies, modeling/simulation, and system performance analysis
  • Maintain lifecycle technical baselines, configuration control, and compliance with national/agency standards Technical Direction & Mission Engineering
  • Provide senior‑level technical direction across hardware/software development, interface controls, and end‑to‑end flow analysis
  • Develop operational scenarios and design alternatives considering performance, resiliency, and cost
  • Participate in integration activities and ensure accurate interface control documentation
  • Support JCIDS documentation and all DoD‑required systems engineering processes Required Experience
  • Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (must already be held - no sponsorship)
  • 20+ years Systems Engineering experience supporting complex DoD/IC programs
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, CS, IS, Engineering Management, or related field - Five additional years may substitute for the degree
  • IAT Level II (Security+ CE, GSEC, CySA+, CCNA Security, or GICSP)
  • Deep expertise with Linux/Unix system engineering in virtual and physical infrastructures
  • Strong background with Windows Server, VMware ESXi, Dell/HP server hardware, NetApp storage
  • Proven experience producing system architectures, requirements documents, ICDs, SEPs, and engineering plans
  • Extensive experience supporting integration, testing, verification planning, and lifecycle engineering
