Position Description Specialist 5 The Project Support Specialist is a temporary, part-time position supporting the development, coordination, and execution of projects within Military, Veterans, and Wraparound Support at Wake Technical Community College. The primary focus of this role is supporting New Student Convocation, a collegewide welcome event that sets expectations for success and connects new students to key resources. This position provides hands-on support for planning, logistics, communication, and day-of execution. The role also assists with related projects that support student access, belonging, and early engagement. Responsibilities and Duties (•Essential Functions) To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Supports planning, coordination, and execution of New Student Convocation, including timelines, materials, logistics, and on-site support Assists with outreach and communication to students, families, and campus partners related to events and initiatives Coordinates logistics such as room setup, supplies, signage, registration support, and vendor or partner needs Tracks project tasks, deadlines, and deliverables to support timely execution Maintains organized documentation related to planning, outreach, and event outcomes Assists with data collection and basic reporting for assessment and improvement efforts Supports collaboration with campus departments and external partners involved in student success initiatives Provides general project and administrative support for Military, Veterans, and Wraparound Support activities as assigned Represents the department at events with a professional, student-centered approach Ability to travel to multiple Wake Tech campuses as needed to support events and projects Participates in required training and professional development Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent and clear communication skills, both oral and written Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Comfortable working collaboratively across departments Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to exhibit professional demeanor and attitude at all times Strong customer service mindset with a focus on students Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) Minimum Requirements Associate degree Experience supporting projects, events, or operations 2 years experience working in a customer service, administrative, or student support setting Preferences Experience in higher education or a community college setting Experience supporting events or large-scale programs Experience with student-facing communication Familiarity with student support services or wraparound resources As an equal employment opportunity employer, Wake Tech values our workforce.
