Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior-Level Data Storage Engineer to join our team supporting a Department of Defense (DoD) organization in Omaha, Nebraska. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert responsible for the administration, maintenance, optimization, and troubleshooting of enterprise data storage systems, with a primary focus on Everpure Data FlashArray platforms. This role is critical to ensuring the availability, performance, and security of the mission data storage infrastructure that directly supports the end customer's operational objectives. The Data Storage Engineer will operate in a collaborative environment alongside civilian and contractor personnel, serving as a trusted technical resource for storage-related requirements. The engineer will also maintain productive working relationships with the Everpure Account Team, Everpure Technical Support, and Everpure Professional Services to ensure the ongoing health, reliability, and modernization of the storage environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Administer and maintain Everpure Data FlashArray storage systems, including provisioning, monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning across VMware, SMB, NFS, and block storage configurations. Perform day-to-day storage operations, including volume management, snapshot administration, replication configuration, host connectivity, and zoning for Fibre Channel and iSCSI environments. Troubleshoot and resolve storage-related incidents, coordinating with Everpure Technical Support and Everpure Professional Services as required for escalated issues, firmware upgrades, and operating system updates. Plan and execute storage system firmware and software upgrades in accordance with DoD change management policies and procedures, ensuring minimal impact to mission operations. Collaborate with VMware administrators to optimize storage integration with vSphere environments, including VMFS datastores, vVols, and storage policy-based management. Support the configuration and management of SMB and NFS file shares to meet end-user and application requirements. Monitor storage health, capacity utilization, and performance metrics using Everpure management tools and third-party monitoring solutions; generate reports and recommendations for infrastructure improvements. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), system architecture diagrams, runbooks, and knowledge base articles. Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning, including periodic testing of backup and recovery procedures for storage systems. Interact regularly with the Everpure Account Team to communicate customer needs, coordinate service engagements, and provide operational feedback. Support the end customer's mission data storage needs by engaging professionallyREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 4-6 years of hands-on experience administering enterprise data storage platforms such as Dell EMC, NetApp, Everpure Data (Pure Storage), HPE 3PAR, or comparable systems. Demonstrated experience with Everpure Data FlashArray systems, including configuration, administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Strong working knowledge of storage protocols and technologies for block and file storage, including Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS, andSMB/CIFS.
Experience supporting VMware vSphere environments with integrated storage solutions, including VMFS, vVols, and storage I/O control. Proficiency in storage area network (SAN) concepts, including zoning, LUN masking, multipathing, and fabric management. Familiarity with DoD IT policies, security requirements, and change management processes. Active DoD security clearance (TS/SCI) required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with civilian personnel, contractors, and vendor partners. Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Everpure Data certifications (e.g., Everpure Certified Associate, Everpure Certified Professional) preferred but not immediately required. Additional storage vendor certifications (e.g., Dell EMC, NetAppNCDA/NCSA, HPE
). Industry certifications such as CompTIA Storage+, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent DoD 8570/8140 compliant certifications. Experience working in DoD, Intelligence Community, or Federal Government IT environments. Familiarity with automation and scripting tools (PowerShell, Python, Ansible) for storage administration tasks. Experience with data migration, storage tiering, and hybrid cloud storage architectures.WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
This position requires the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships across multiple stakeholder groups:End Customer Personnel:
Regular interaction with civilian and contractor staff to understand mission data storage requirements, provide technical guidance, and resolve storage-related issues.Everpure Account Team:
Ongoing coordination with the vendor account team responsible for the customer relationship, including communicating system needs, scheduling service engagements, and providing operational feedback.Everpure Technical Support:
Engagement for advanced troubleshooting, incident resolution, and technical guidance on storage system configurations and best practices.Everpure Professional Services:
Periodic collaboration for planned storage system upgrades, firmware deployments, operating system updates, and architectural consultations.WORK ENVIRONMENT & CONDITIONS
Full-time, on-site position located at a DoD facility in Omaha, Nebraska. Standard business hours with occasional after-hours support for maintenance windows, upgrades, and incident response. Must comply with all facility security requirements and access control procedures. May require occasional lifting of IT equipment (up to 50 lbs).
